Even from a very young age, Dr. Alicea knew he wanted to become a doctor—a surgeon specifically. At age 11, his twin brother had a bicycle accident that required oral surgery. Dr. Alicea was so fascinated by the surgeon’s skills and the wonderful results he achieved for his brother, inspiration struck. He knew that oral surgery would be his path.He attended dental school, where the faculty supported his fast-track into oral surgery. As it turned out, he became skilled in many specialties, including prosthodontics.
